Joakim Noah Gets a Lucky Break...

I guess Joakim Noah has officially been broken into the NBA.

Chicago Bulls forward Joakim Noah accepted a deferred prosecution agreement Wednesday in his marijuana possession case, resulting in six months' probation and a $200 fine.

The former Florida star was charged with possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and for having an open container of alcohol early Sunday in downtown Gainesville. As a first-time offender, he was eligible for the deferred prosecution agreement, the State Attorney's Office said.

The charges will be dropped in six months if Noah meets the terms of his probation.
Noah also must pay $206 in traffic fines for two citations he received Sunday on the University of Florida campus. Noah was ticketed for driving with a suspended license without knowledge and for not wearing a seat belt.

Lucky dude. $200 must be laughable to him. I got arrested over the weekend and drugs weren't even involved...let's put it this way, I'm paying a helluva lot more than 200 punk ass dollars!!

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week in Atlanta about his possible reinstatement to the league. Jones has not been allowed to visit the Cowboys' Valley Ranch facility or take part in any organized team activities, but he is hopeful the league will allow him to do so this week, according to the report.

I was on my hiatus during the time that Sean Taylor was killed/buried. My thoughts on the situation are really no different than every one else's. What happened was wrong on so many levels. I'm only 25 years old but I can remember being 17 (the age of the youngest person involved) like yesterday! At that age, I was more determined to find out how I could BE the millionaire insted of finding out how I could rob him. It's so sad that the mentality of today's youth is take it, not earn it. Let me just start by saying that he's 37 years old so it's about that time anyway...On Wednesday, Zo Mo tore the patellar tendon in his right knee during their matchup with the Hawks. Following his injury he was placed on a stretcher, but (being the warrior that he is) refused the ride saying,

"That's not the way I envisioned myself walking off the court for the last time in my career. I've been through so much in my life. If I had to crawl off the court I would have. Nobody was going to push me off on a stretcher off the court. That wasn't going to happen."

Those injuries usually take at least three months to heal, but Zo has been quoted as saying that there's "zero chance" of him playing another season. I guess we'll see!

T.Peezy filed a $20 million lawsuit against photo agency X17 over a story claiming that he stepped out on Eva with some French model (actually Alexandra Paressant is her name). Some chick is causing a ruckus saying that Jason Kidd groped her and yada, yada, yada in the club. She told cops that "Kidd groped her crotch at a Manhattan club on Oct. 10 and then grabbed her a second time when she complained." The complaint says Kidd was partying at club Tenjune when he walked up to the woman and grabbed her crotch at about 2:30 a.m. The woman said she and Kidd got into an argument and he grabbed her a second time. Bouncers broke up the spat. Chick filed a complaint against him the following day.

I get so TIRED of hearing these stories!!! If all Jason Kidd did was touch her...BIG DEAL! You know how many times I"ve been groped in the club?? Hmmm...I first went to a club at about age 16...I'm now 25...so my grope count is probably somewhere around 10 million gropes over the last nine years! Atlanta Gets WNBA Team...

Atlanta has been chosen to host a WNBA expansion team in 2008. The Atlanta franchise, which will choose a name, logo, colors and head coach at a later date, is the sixth WNBA team to be independently owned and operated. With that addition, the WNBA will feature 14 teams! I feel like I should be getting paid for this! I've beeeeen saying that Atlanta should have a WNBA team for the longest!!!! Hopefully they'll be more exciting to watch than the Hawks. Since it only costs $25 to sit courtside at WNBA games, I think I'll be getting season tickets :)~

I don't know if ya'll have been watching Dancing With the Stars, but last night Floyd was in the bottom two and you can tell that he was NOT happy!! The look on his face during last night's results show was (to me) a look of disappointment or perhaps frustration, even though a lot of people viewed it as him being cocky, arrogant, and having a bad attitude. Read some of the comments from the DWTS message board:

...your attitude stinks you should not act that way in front of fans you are there to have fun and everyone is there to learn and take what the judges say so you need to watch your face expersion

... Floyd have lost my votes for the rest of the season. I will not vote for him again no matter how well he dance in the following weeks. He have a serious attitude problem.

She is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 11, and sentencing guidelines call for her to receive up to six months in jail. Everybody knows that she strongly denied ever using any performance enhancing drugs during her career. Yesterday she admitted that it was all a lie, cried, and retired. I wasn't mad at the idea of Shaunie stashing away a couple mill for a rainy day. Nothing about her doing that seemed shady. If anyone thought that she was on some triflin, gold digger type shit check this out...

According to a person close to Shaunie, once she found out that Shaq was planning on leave her for his pregnant girlfriend - she began stashing away the family money. "Shaunie [took] 9 million dollars from Shaq once she found out that he had indeed had an affair and gotten another woman pregnant."

And that's not the best part. Word is that Shaunie was entitled to substantially less than $9 million under the prenuptial agreement that she signed before the wedding. (MTO)

Everybody knows what's going on with O.J. It's looking like he was set-up last week and now a mockery is once again being made out of him. Please don't get it twisted, I am in no way an O.J. supporter, fan, or whatever. I didn't give a damn about O.J. before his ex-wife and her boyfriend turned up dead and that feeling still remains today.

It seems like every since O.J. ~~got off~~ was acquitted, the Goldman family has been trying to take everything from him! I don't know how it feels to have a close loved one so brutally murdered, but I'm almost sure that I wouldn't invest all of my time and energy into making the acquitted person's life hell. Last week, the money hungry Goldman's released O.J.'s controversial book "If I Did It" and are racking up all of the profit. I understand getting the rights to the book and making sure that it is NEVER released, but they released it which makes absolutely no sense. This week, they've crawled their way back into O.J. World yet again by trying to receive the memorabilia that O.J. Simpson is accused of committing armed robbery to recover. Their plan is to make sure that "the stuff will never go back to Mr. Simpson. He's going to walk out of Clark County empty-handed."

All I can do is shake my head. It's been over 10 years since the death of their son. Why not just try to move on? It's a damn shame that they have so much hate in their heart's and can't find it within themselves to get past this and let God deal with whoever actually murdered their kid. I can't help but feel that they are missing so much out of life by trying to find ways to get at O.J. When will they realize that none of this will bring their son back?

Greg Oden will miss the entire upcoming basketball season due to micro fracture knee surgery. Oden is expected to be on crutches for up to eight weeks. Recovery time from micro fracture surgery varies from person to person, but generally takes between six and 12 months for full recovery. I really, really like Greg Oden so I'm hoping that he fully recovers and has a great season whenever he does return!

I posted about the possible paralysis of Kevin Everett a few days ago. However, I was hoping that a miracle would occur and he'd someday walk again. He's been making tremendous improvements and though he'll never be able to play football again, he may be able to walk someday soon!

Kevin Everett has slightly moved three fingers on his right hand, potentially another positive sign in his recovery from a life-threatening spinal-cord injury. The Buffalo tight end voluntarily moved his fingers Thursday night "more than a little bit but not with great force." "There was slight movement." On Wednesday, doctors said Everett could wiggle his toes, bend his hip, move his ankles, elevate and kick his leg, as well as extend his elbows and slightly flex his biceps. But he had not been able to move his hands. (ESPN)

Kevin Everett SEVERLY Injured

It's been a long time since a football player has sustained an injury as severe as paralysis. On Sunday, Kevin Everett sustained a "catastrophic and life-threatening spinal-cord injury while trying to make a tackle during the Buffalo Bills' season opener and is unlikely to walk again." This is really sad. I believe in miracles so I hope that one day he's able to walk again.

"A best-case scenario is full recovery, but not likely," orthopedic surgeon Andrew Cappuccino said. "I believe there will be some permanent neurologic deficit." Everett was hurt Sunday after he ducked his head while tackling the Denver Broncos' Domenik Hixon during the second-half kickoff. Everett dropped face-first to the ground after his helmet hit Hixon high on the left shoulder and side of the helmet. Cappuccino noted the 25-year-old reserve tight end did have touch sensation throughout his body and also showed signs of movement. But he cautioned that Everett's injury was life-threatening because he was still susceptible to blood clots, infection and breathing failure."

Shaq and Shaunie are getting a divorce after 5 years and 4 kids! What happened?! They seemed so perfect for each other. I thought they had at least a 10 year marriage in them. Shaq, who filed for divorce, wants Shaunie to "provide a correct accounting of all money, funds, stocks, bonds, and other securities" that she had access to or obtained during the marriage. Hmmm....sounds like Shaunie may have been a little funny with the money. If I was Shaunie I'd be trying my damnest to make it work, because I can only imagine how hard it'll be to raise five children (she had one before Shaq) alone.

For the most part. I haven't really blogged about my true personal feelings on Michael Vick because I feel like enough people already are. Besides, I try to avoid long posts that go on and on forever. However, I just feel like since everyone has their two cents, I can have mine as well.

I DO NOT think that Michael Vick is a "bad person." I do not think that he should be executed (can you believe that this lady on the radio where I'm from said that if she was a prosecutor she'd have him executed without a doubt...WTF?), I do not think that he's a potential serial killer (I also heard people say that since he tortures animals, humans can't be too far behind), and I think that he SHOULD play in the NFL again (call me crazy, but I'll call me forgiving). And maybe I feel the way that I feel because I've grown up with an understanding and crazy acceptance of dogfighting. Maybe it's because I understand the culture that accepts, participates, and find no harm dogfighting and feel that it is (as Stephon Marbury said earlier this week) a sport. Unfortunately I understand a culture that does many things that are illegal, but because of it I know that just because a person is involved in things that are not ok in the eyes of the law DOES NOT necessarily make the person a bad human being.

The Michael Vick situation has been viewed and discussed from all angles. Of course race was one of them. I'm black, and I'd like to consider myself as the last person to ever pull the race card. I hate when race comes up in discussion many times because I just like to feel that everybody is the same and no organized faction (whether it be the government, the NFL, or simply a college or university) practices racism. I know that this is not true, but it's the way that I like to believe it should be and therefore that's the way that I sometimes pretend that it is. With that said, someone has to blatantly say some racist shit (like I hate black people) for me to label it as racism. But, I'm going to explore race for a minute. Not to make an excuse but to encourage understanding.

I grew up in a urban environment. There were black people to the left of me, to the right of me, in front of me, and behind me. In my neighborhood (and I'm gonna speak for a majority of urban neighborhoods across America) we didn't really care about dogs like a lot of other people do. Dogs were just that....dogs. As a kid, I can remember seeing stray, unkept, uncivilized dogs roaming the streets all of the time. In our community we didn't call the animal shelter for them, we didn't want to adopt them, we didn't have some warm feeling in our heart because a three legged dog limped down the street. We just didn't want that dog in our yard trying to eat our food, or possibly being a threat to our kids. That's a stark contrast to a lot of white people who I know that will be late for work if they see a stray dog just so they can either find it's rightful owner or seek help for it (I use that example because I actually worked with a person who was late for work so that she could make sure a stray animal was taken care of). I grew up playing with my male cousins and I'm aware of the devious nature of boys (that sometimes never leave as men). My cousins would throw bricks at manged dogs or do any devilish "boy thing" that they could think of. Would they get in trouble for it? NO. Would they get in trouble for doing that to another kid?...Hell Yeah. That's probably because in my family kindness, care, and concern for human beings were stressed. I guess they forgot to tell us how important it is to love your fellow dog.

I'm not a dog nor animal lover, but I don't hate them either. I would never torture an animal as a child (and I always thought I didn't because I'm a "giiirl") or as an adult. But as a child I would never do lot of the dangerous, mischievous things that a lot of boys would do either. So with all of that being said, I understand dogfighting as being a cultural thing. I don't/never participate but not because I think the people who do it are bad...it's just that I'm not interested. As I grew older, a lot of those same boys that I played with as a child bred dogs and trained them to fight. I'd have casual conversation with a guy or two and even ask how "the last fight went" or "how much did you win?" I'd even hear about the losses and how pissed a person was because their dog disappointed. I've played with some pits trained for fighting, and even have been invited to dog fights (again not declining because I thought it was wrong, just wasn't interested). I have a good friend who is involved and I trust him around myself, my family, and etc. He's a trustworthy person and his interest in dogfighting doesn't diminish his credibility with me.

For those who didn't grow up with the knowledge or casual attitude towards dogfighting, it's hard to understand. But can you believe that some of the same people who engage in dogfighting would never shoot a buckshot between the eyes of a deer? Can you believe that some of the same people who dogfight would never go out and kill chinchillas for their fur (these are both things that are legal and accepted). Why is it that a person who finds nothing wrong with dogfighting is a potential serial killer while a person who shoots up the forest is a respectable hunter? If you thought that Michael Vick was a good guy at this time last year, what about him is different at present? Last year he was involved in the activities that we're now finding out about, and that's the Mike Vick we've always known. According to reports, he's been a dogfighter since we've been introduced to him! So is he terrible now that his dark done activity has come to light? I'm sorry, but I really don't think so.

In our country we're more forgiving of people who hurt humans than we are of those who hurt animals. Everyday I listen to some over the top person on TV talking about Vick like he's the scum of the earth, like he should crawl into a hole and die there, like it'll be a disgrace to mankind if he ever steps foot on a football field. While all of this is being said, Leonard Little is playing preseason football with the Rams. He has been forgiven and forgotten and he actually is responsible for the demise of another human being. If he is playing football again, I can only hope that Mike Vick gets another chance. For some reason I don't think he's dumb enough to ever do again what he's done before. I don't think he'll ever associate with people who mean him more harm than good for as long as he lives. I believe in second chances, I believe in forgiving people and all of that has to do with me believing in God. I've screwed up so much and yet I can't imagine God saying "serves you right" and not giving me another chance. If God can forgive Michael Vick, then to hell with everybody else.

Jerome Bettis has a book coming out, "The Bus. My Life in and out of a Helmet," and in it he tells of how in 2000 he faked an injury to avoid being cut.

Bettis came into training camp with a knee that had been surgically repaired theprevious summer. Bettis, fearing he would be cut if the team knew how much the knee was injured, didn't say anything. During a short-yardage drill at an early camp practice, Bettis fell down, grabbed his knee and yelled in pain. "Man, did I do a nice job of acting,'' Bettis wrote in the book. One thing that I was shocked about after the whole Pacman Vegas strip club situation was that a gang of people didn't come of the woodworks trying to sue for anything that they could. These days people will sue for anything. However, a female who was actually shot that night is filing a suit against Pac. Natalie Jones claims she required three weeks in intensive care to recover from her injuries and lost wages as a result of missing work as a registered nurse. However, Jones' lawyer (Pacman Jones that is) is skeptical of her claim b/c he believes that she was treated and released in one day. Whatever the case is, if Pacman Jones has $81K to just throw away in one night, ole girl should get something if she was injured in any way no matter how big or small. That's just my opinion though.

Former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin died last week when his sport utility vehicle collided with a freight train in a fiery crash. Investigators used dental records to identify Griffin, 25, who began his tumultuous pro career with the Houston Rockets in 2001. He was waived by the Timberwolves in March...Houston police said in a report that the driver of the SUV ignored a railroad warning and went through a barrier before striking the moving train at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. The resulting fire burned the SUV and the side of a railcar carrying plastic granules, police said. The driver's body was badly burned and there was no identification. (FOX)

The accident happened on the 17th. Apparently he was burned beyond recognition so that's why the news is just breaking because his dental record ID was confirmed on yesterday. This is definitely sad, and seems like something that could have been avoided on his end. I wonder what he was thinking when he basically ignored the fact that a train was coming. Either way, the end result is completely tragic and unfortunate.

Michael Vick's lawyers are currently trying to negotiate a plea agreement that would include less than a year in prison. With the skies in Micheal VickLand being cloudy with chances of lifetime showers, serving less than a year in prison could be the sun that I'm sure he's been on the lookout for. He has until Friday to decide if he'll take a plea agreement or not. Hopefully some good will come from this b/c I really would hate to see his entire career end. I don't know Micheal Vick (never even met him or seen a Va. Tech or Falcons game in person), but I'd bet my balls that he never goes near a pitbull again as long as lives. Matter-of-fact, if he serves less than a year in prison, he should become a vegetarian, sell all his minks, and become PETA's biggest supporter.

Some people can really exaggerate a situation. I was watching ESPN on yesterday and they were talking about Vince Young violationg a team rule recently. In case you didn't know, Vince Young broke curfew by spending Friday night at home instead of at the hotel where the team stays during camp. Any player with less than four years experience has to stay at a hotel. As a result, he didn't play in the preseason opener. This to me is no big deal. But maybe I'm not normal because (I know someone is gonna hate me for this but...) Michael Vick's situation didn't seem to be that big of a deal to me either (forgive me, I'm from the South and animal cruelty is popular down here). So some guy on ESPN was saying how this "scares him" because Young is not displaying the ability to lead the team and blah, blah, blah. Basically he was using Vince's decision to sleep home (vs a hotel) as measure of his quarterbacking and leadership abilities.

I was really surprised at the way his character was being discussed for something so small. I turned up the TV as loud as I could b/c I thought maybe they said that he killed a homeless sheep instead of he went home to sleep. If he had killed a sheep then his ass would be in trouble because we know how this country feels about animals.

I think it's a bit harsh how the hardcore animal lovers in the world think that he should be cruxified though! Don't get me wrong, I think that his crime is serious but damn....he can't get a break. May this be a lesson to all of the young dumb athletes who are obsessed with "keeping it real." If he sells the ball now he can get $500,000 for it. After the good ole government snatches 35% percent of that (that's about $200,00!!!), he can keep the rest. Barry Bonds hitting his 756th career homerun had to be one of the best moments in sports history that I've ever witnessed. Just think, the last time the record was broken was like 50 years ago. It could be another 50 years before it's done again! I've seen a lot of great sports moments, but none like last night. Immediately after Barry hit the HR, the damn game just stopped! His family rushed the field, they gave him a mic...it was crazy!! I was confused for a second thinking, "Are they just really gonna end the game in the 5th inning like this??"

After Barry thanked the fans, shed a few tears, spit out a few sunflower seeds, and waved his hat in the air a few times, he was through (off to get pissy drunk and talk shit about all the haters...well that's how I would've celebrated at least). He gathered his belongings and peaced out (gotta love baseball!)...BUT not before Hank Aaron magically appeared on the jumbotron to officially "pass the torch" and give his words of congratulations (for some reason, I think he was strongly persuaded to do this). The commissioner, however, was nowhere in sight (**smh**).

Yao Ming and his long time girlfriend were married yesterday in front of about 100 relatives. The wedding cost over a million dollars, and no teammates, coaches or basketball officials were invited (what not even Traci McGrady!). She was also forced to sell two other properties, including her mother's house, to raise money. The NBA Finals continue to draw far fewer viewers than last year. The San Antonio Spurs' 75-72 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night received a 6.4 national rating and an 11 share on ABC, down 20 percent from the 8.0/14 for last year's Game 3 between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat. The Game 3 drop follows a 30 percent plunge for Game 2 and a 19 percent decline for Game 1. (ESPN)

Every since ABC picked up NBA games, things just haven't been right. "NBA on NBC" just sounded better. Back in the day, the playoffs/Finals used to be the shit!! Even watching regular season games on Sundays were better than they are now. It used to be a lot more exciting watching the playoffs back in the best 3-out-of-5 days. Now, I forget who's playing, when they're playing, and who's leading the series. It just ain't what it used to be.

DAYUM...how do you get an honorary degree? I need to find out so I can do what it takes to get one. That's a whole lot better than spending time in class dealing with exams and all of that other nonsense. Maybe I'll just call Muhammad Ali (since we're so cool) and ask him. He's the recent recipient of a Honorary Doctorate of Humanities degree from Princeton! I don't know exactly what he needs that for, but I guess that now we can call him Dr. Muhammad Ali OR Dr. Greatest of All Times.

Odell Thurman better hold his breath. Over the weekend he was accused of kicking and hitting two men in his Georgia hometown during the weekend. The NFL suspended Thurman for the first four games of 2006 after he skipped a drug test. The suspension was extended to a full season following his arrest on a drunken driving charge in September. Thurman is one of nine Cincinnati players to be arrested in the past year. Roger Rog ain't bout to let this one go unpunished. I think the Commish is about to kick Odell Thurman outta the league all together. That's just my prediction.

I was reading MediaTakeOut and got ahold of an "account" of Pac Man Jones' behavior at an R. Kelly album release party last night. If it's accurate, all I can do is shake my head at Adam. How in the hell is he gonna make it through his entire suspension without getting into trouble??

Pac Man Jones, the NFL so called star was crazy at this party!!! He threw bottles into the crowd for no reason at all and hit random people while R Kelly is performing! [He also] got in this guys face to start a fight. [His antics] almost ruined R Kelly's performance.....He was throwing up Gang signs galore. (gang signs?...he ain't from L.A.)

Between May 7-18 Michael Vick's Virginia home was broken into (the dog fight house). I know that people's houses get broken into everyday but look at what "they" took:

Three plasma TV's (62", 42" and 31")
Two floor buffers
Washer and Dryer
Leather sofa....for a combined theft total of $17,550

Of course Micheal Vick was never worried about a measley $17, 550 worth of items taken from his home, but I would've been sick about those plasma TV's. Too bad I couldn't have crossed paths with the theif because I'm sure that the 62" went for about $300.

This is what Michael Vick does to the poor little innocent doggies. Dayum, he looks like he was in a car wreck!!!!!

Roger Goodell is really not playing wit ya'll fools! Since being the NFL's commissioner, he's sent a clear message to everybody in the league, "F*ck up and I'll sideline ya ass!" He's suspending players for everything from getting arrested to missing child support payments. I think it's funny that grown men can't stay outta trouble. That goes for ALL men...the rich and the poor, but ESPECIALLY the rich.

Tank Johnson finished his two month jail sentence and found out yesterday that he'll have to miss the first eight games of the season. BUT since the commish is such a man of reason, he said that if big Tank can stay clear of the troubles that got him called into the ~~principal's~~ commissioners office in the first place, he'll only have to miss six games! Tank took it like a man and agreed to do better.

Billy Donovan signed with the Orlando Magic on Friday, by Saturday morning he had chills, and was dry heaving over his decision. It looks like the Magic are going to release him out of his contract to return to coach the Florida Gators. However, the NBA could ban his indecisive ass from coaching in the NBA for five year as terms of his release from the Orlando contract. I'm sure that won't matter to him since he obviously didn't wanna coach in the NBA in the first place. I know there're some happy people in Gainesville!

The money will go to coach Marvin Lewis' foundation and Feed The Children, which helps the needy in Africa. 'I'm looking forward to it,' Johnson said Friday. 'It's going to be fun. I haven't been blogging about Mike Vick and his recent "troubles" because when it all started, I didn't think it was interesting or a big deal. However, the media (and whoever else) is making it out to be a very big deal. I know that dog fighting is unethical and inhumane but it seems like Michael Vick has killed somebody! I know many people who breed pits strictly for fighting, and I guess that now I should alert the authorities. Anyway, all of this negative attention must be getting to him because he showed up to offseason workouts minus the dark and lovely cornrows in an effort to "change his image." I assume that it was his braids which caused him to fight dogs so now that he cut them I guess that the urge is now gone.

I bet everybody in the NFL hates the new commissioner. He's been doing his best to "clean up" the image of the league and I'm sure he's pissed off a lot of people in the process. His newest attempt at NFL purity is banning alcohol at team functions, on buses, and flights. The rule isn't strictly for players, but for owners, coaches and guests. They can't be happy with that. I know I'd be pissed if I was an owner or coach and unable to throw back a few cups of Henn.

The Orlando Magic must've been talkin some good shit because Billy Donovan did what no one was expecting him to do...leave the University of Florida. He announced yesterday that he's gonna try to get Dwight Howard and nem to the playoffs and hopefully he can convince Grant Hill to retire in the process. It's obvious that he's a great college coach, so I hope that it can carry over to the NBA.
