UGH!!!!!

I had no idea that Travis Henry (Denver Broncos) had such an disturbingly, interesting situation. If you don't know, he has NINE children with NINE women and all I can say is...ugh! I'm not one to pass judgement and I credit myself on my "openmindedness," but WTF?! What was this guy thinkin?! This dude is hella fertile. If I met him, I'd haul ass in the opposite direction. The sad part about it is I'm sure there're a few boppers who wouldn't mind being baby mama #10. God bless those misguided souls! I can go on and on about this forever, but I'm not. Whether he's a great father or not isn't the point. If this was a woman, no amount of motherly love would make people think that her mothering nine children with nine fathers was ok. I don't live my life controlled by double standards so I'd just like to take this time to call Travis Henry a nasty, stank hoe! (lol)

Happy Birthday Kobe!!!

Today is Kobe Bryant's 29th birthday! As ya'll know he's playing USA basketball right now so his birthday wishes weren't too over the top. When asked what he wanted to celebrate on this day, he replied, "three butt naked white girls who won't tell" (of course I'm just telling the truth kidding). Seriously, he said that all he wants is the ball. May all his wishes come true..

This May Be a Long One...

For the most part. I haven't really blogged about my true personal feelings on Michael Vick because I feel like enough people already are. Besides, I try to avoid long posts that go on and on forever. However, I just feel like since everyone has their two cents, I can have mine as well.

I DO NOT think that Michael Vick is a "bad person." I do not think that he should be executed (can you believe that this lady on the radio where I'm from said that if she was a prosecutor she'd have him executed without a doubt...WTF?), I do not think that he's a potential serial killer (I also heard people say that since he tortures animals, humans can't be too far behind), and I think that he SHOULD play in the NFL again (call me crazy, but I'll call me forgiving). And maybe I feel the way that I feel because I've grown up with an understanding and crazy acceptance of dogfighting. Maybe it's because I understand the culture that accepts, participates, and find no harm dogfighting and feel that it is (as Stephon Marbury said earlier this week) a sport. Unfortunately I understand a culture that does many things that are illegal, but because of it I know that just because a person is involved in things that are not ok in the eyes of the law DOES NOT necessarily make the person a bad human being.

The Michael Vick situation has been viewed and discussed from all angles. Of course race was one of them. I'm black, and I'd like to consider myself as the last person to ever pull the race card. I hate when race comes up in discussion many times because I just like to feel that everybody is the same and no organized faction (whether it be the government, the NFL, or simply a college or university) practices racism. I know that this is not true, but it's the way that I like to believe it should be and therefore that's the way that I sometimes pretend that it is. With that said, someone has to blatantly say some racist shit (like I hate black people) for me to label it as racism. But, I'm going to explore race for a minute. Not to make an excuse but to encourage understanding.

I grew up in a urban environment. There were black people to the left of me, to the right of me, in front of me, and behind me. In my neighborhood (and I'm gonna speak for a majority of urban neighborhoods across America) we didn't really care about dogs like a lot of other people do. Dogs were just that....dogs. As a kid, I can remember seeing stray, unkept, uncivilized dogs roaming the streets all of the time. In our community we didn't call the animal shelter for them, we didn't want to adopt them, we didn't have some warm feeling in our heart because a three legged dog limped down the street. We just didn't want that dog in our yard trying to eat our food, or possibly being a threat to our kids. That's a stark contrast to a lot of white people who I know that will be late for work if they see a stray dog just so they can either find it's rightful owner or seek help for it (I use that example because I actually worked with a person who was late for work so that she could make sure a stray animal was taken care of). I grew up playing with my male cousins and I'm aware of the devious nature of boys (that sometimes never leave as men). My cousins would throw bricks at manged dogs or do any devilish "boy thing" that they could think of. Would they get in trouble for it? NO. Would they get in trouble for doing that to another kid?...Hell Yeah. That's probably because in my family kindness, care, and concern for human beings were stressed. I guess they forgot to tell us how important it is to love your fellow dog.

I'm not a dog nor animal lover, but I don't hate them either. I would never torture an animal as a child (and I always thought I didn't because I'm a "giiirl") or as an adult. But as a child I would never do lot of the dangerous, mischievous things that a lot of boys would do either. So with all of that being said, I understand dogfighting as being a cultural thing. I don't/never participate but not because I think the people who do it are bad...it's just that I'm not interested. As I grew older, a lot of those same boys that I played with as a child bred dogs and trained them to fight. I'd have casual conversation with a guy or two and even ask how "the last fight went" or "how much did you win?" I'd even hear about the losses and how pissed a person was because their dog disappointed. I've played with some pits trained for fighting, and even have been invited to dog fights (again not declining because I thought it was wrong, just wasn't interested). I have a good friend who is involved and I trust him around myself, my family, and etc. He's a trustworthy person and his interest in dogfighting doesn't diminish his credibility with me.
For those who didn't grow up with the knowledge or casual attitude towards dogfighting, it's hard to understand. But can you believe that some of the same people who engage in dogfighting would never shoot a buckshot between the eyes of a deer? Can you believe that some of the same people who dogfight would never go out and kill chinchillas for their fur (these are both things that are legal and accepted). Why is it that a person who finds nothing wrong with dogfighting is a potential serial killer while a person who shoots up the forest is a respectable hunter? If you thought that Michael Vick was a good guy at this time last year, what about him is different at present? Last year he was involved in the activities that we're now finding out about, and that's the Mike Vick we've always known. According to reports, he's been a dogfighter since we've been introduced to him! So is he terrible now that his dark done activity has come to light? I'm sorry, but I really don't think so.

In our country we're more forgiving of people who hurt humans than we are of those who hurt animals. Everyday I listen to some over the top person on TV talking about Vick like he's the scum of the earth, like he should crawl into a hole and die there, like it'll be a disgrace to mankind if he ever steps foot on a football field. While all of this is being said, Leonard Little is playing preseason football with the Rams. He has been forgiven and forgotten and he actually is responsible for the demise of another human being. If he is playing football again, I can only hope that Mike Vick gets another chance. For some reason I don't think he's dumb enough to ever do again what he's done before. I don't think he'll ever associate with people who mean him more harm than good for as long as he lives. I believe in second chances, I believe in forgiving people and all of that has to do with me believing in God. I've screwed up so much and yet I can't imagine God saying "serves you right" and not giving me another chance. If God can forgive Michael Vick, then to hell with everybody else.

And the Oscar Goes to...

Jerome Bettis has a book coming out, "The Bus. My Life in and out of a Helmet," and in it he tells of how in 2000 he faked an injury to avoid being cut.

Bettis came into training camp with a knee that had been surgically repaired theprevious summer. Bettis, fearing he would be cut if the team knew how much the knee was injured, didn't say anything. During a short-yardage drill at an early camp practice, Bettis fell down, grabbed his knee and yelled in pain. "Man, did I do a nice job of acting,'' Bettis wrote in the book. "The thing is, I wasn't faking that I had an injury. I was just faking that the injury happened on that short-yardage play. I had to fool the coaches and the team's medical department into thinking the injury had occurred on that play. Otherwise, the Steelers would have had their reason to cut me and my salary."

And I ain't mad at him.

Do You Want Barry Bonds' Record Breaking Ball?

Well you can get it if you're the highest bidder. Ol' boy who caught it just can't afford to keep it (the government is a trip) so he's auctioning it off. He said, "It wasn't hard. It was simple math. I'm upset by the decision I had to make. I wanted to keep it. I'm young. I don't have the bank account. ... It would have cost me a lot more to keep it."

Larry Johnson Finally Ends Holdout...

Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson agreed to a 6-year, $45M deal of which $19M is guaranteed. I know he's happy to finally reach an agreement, but I'm almost certain that he's not happy about the fine of $14,280 per day for missing 25 days of training. The holdout will cost him about $357,000!

I'm Not Surprised...

One thing that I was shocked about after the whole Pacman Vegas strip club situation was that a gang of people didn't come of the woodworks trying to sue for anything that they could. These days people will sue for anything. However, a female who was actually shot that night is filing a suit against Pac. Natalie Jones claims she required three weeks in intensive care to recover from her injuries and lost wages as a result of missing work as a registered nurse. However, Jones' lawyer (Pacman Jones that is) is skeptical of her claim b/c he believes that she was treated and released in one day. Whatever the case is, if Pacman Jones has $81K to just throw away in one night, ole girl should get something if she was injured in any way no matter how big or small. That's just my opinion though.

What a Tradegy...

Former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin died last week when his sport utility vehicle collided with a freight train in a fiery crash. Investigators used dental records to identify Griffin, 25, who began his tumultuous pro career with the Houston Rockets in 2001. He was waived by the Timberwolves in March...Houston police said in a report that the driver of the SUV ignored a railroad warning and went through a barrier before striking the moving train at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. The resulting fire burned the SUV and the side of a railcar carrying plastic granules, police said. The driver's body was badly burned and there was no identification. (FOX)

The accident happened on the 17th. Apparently he was burned beyond recognition so that's why the news is just breaking because his dental record ID was confirmed on yesterday. This is definitely sad, and seems like something that could have been avoided on his end. I wonder what he was thinking when he basically ignored the fact that a train was coming. Either way, the end result is completely tragic and unfortunate.

Michael Vick will plead guilty on Monday to dogfighting charges. At this time, it's unsure of how long he'll be locked up and etc.

David Beckham Scores...

Last night David Beckham got his first start for the L.A Galaxy and in his first start he scored a goal! We all know how huge it is to score in soccer. They ended up winning 2-0 in which he had an assist on the second goal.

I know that this has nothing to do with anything but....damn!

This Body is Ludicrous!!

Guess who this former hot body guy is?? Click Here

It May Not be So Bad Afterall...

Michael Vick's lawyers are currently trying to negotiate a plea agreement that would include less than a year in prison. With the skies in Micheal VickLand being cloudy with chances of lifetime showers, serving less than a year in prison could be the sun that I'm sure he's been on the lookout for. He has until Friday to decide if he'll take a plea agreement or not. Hopefully some good will come from this b/c I really would hate to see his entire career end. I don't know Micheal Vick (never even met him or seen a Va. Tech or Falcons game in person), but I'd bet my balls that he never goes near a pitbull again as long as lives. Matter-of-fact, if he serves less than a year in prison, he should become a vegetarian, sell all his minks, and become PETA's biggest supporter.

Vince Young is a Terrible, Terrible Guy...

Some people can really exaggerate a situation. I was watching ESPN on yesterday and they were talking about Vince Young violationg a team rule recently. In case you didn't know, Vince Young broke curfew by spending Friday night at home instead of at the hotel where the team stays during camp. Any player with less than four years experience has to stay at a hotel. As a result, he didn't play in the preseason opener. This to me is no big deal. But maybe I'm not normal because (I know someone is gonna hate me for this but...) Michael Vick's situation didn't seem to be that big of a deal to me either (forgive me, I'm from the South and animal cruelty is popular down here). So some guy on ESPN was saying how this "scares him" because Young is not displaying the ability to lead the team and blah, blah, blah. Basically he was using Vince's decision to sleep home (vs a hotel) as measure of his quarterbacking and leadership abilities.

I was really surprised at the way his character was being discussed for something so small. I turned up the TV as loud as I could b/c I thought maybe they said that he killed a homeless sheep instead of he went home to sleep. If he had killed a sheep then his ass would be in trouble because we know how this country feels about animals.

It's Not Looking too Good for Vick...

I feel bad saying that I feel bad for Michael Vick. Everybody has their opinion(s) about his situation, so I'll keep mine to myself. I think it's a bit harsh how the hardcore animal lovers in the world think that he should be cruxified though! Don't get me wrong, I think that his crime is serious but damn....he can't get a break. If I was Mike Vick, I'd run away to Tijuana and really become the Ron Mexico who he's pretended to be for so long.
With two more co-defendants distancing themselves from Michael Vick, the
embattled Falcons quarterback was considering on Monday whether to accept a
plea agreement for his alleged role in a dogfighting operation. Sources told ESPN's Kelly Naqi that Vick attorneys Larry Woodward and Billy Martin met with federal prosecutor Michael Gill and the investigators on Monday afternoon. The attorneys planned to speak with the quarterback in the evening to see what direction he wants to go in. That comes on the heels of news that co-defendants Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips are scheduled to appear in federal court in Richmond at the end of the week and are expected to accept their own plea agreements.
(ESPN)

May this be a lesson to all of the young dumb athletes who are obsessed with "keeping it real." Keeping it real is telling your broke cousins and homeboys to kiss your ass when they suggest your involvement in activity that could risk your career. In most cases, keeping it real is forgetting their names the second after you get drafted. I'm sure that Mike Vick looked out for the same "friends" who're now coping pleas. It doesn't look to me like they're looking out for him at all. I don't care how sincere you think are to a person, when you're flirting with prison time, sincerity goes out the window (I'd rat out my mama to avoid going to the big house...I'm too pretty. Those dyke hoes would have a field day with me, lol). I guess Michael Vick just had to find that out the hard way.

HUH?!?!?

Remember the guy who caught Barry Bond's record breaking ball the other night?? Well, the guy (who's just a 21-year old college student) was on the Today Show talking about how he doesn't know if he's gonna sell the ball or keep it. He's saying that he wants to keep it b/c of it's sentimental value. Check this out though....

If he sells the ball now he can get $500,000 for it. After the good ole government snatches 35% percent of that (that's about $200,00!!!), he can keep the rest. (That's some real bullshit but hey, the government has been bullshit forever). What's even more crazier and ridiculous than that is that if he keeps the ball he could STILL have to pay taxes on it based on an estimate of it's value!!!! That thought alone makes me want to cry. That makes absolutely no sense!! I love America but our government is the biggest group of crooks in the world! They rob and steal from us everyday. The fucked up part about it is that they word everything in a way to make it seem like it's the gospel when it's just really their way of screwing us over! And we have no choice but to comply! **smh**

SO what does he do?? Does he sell the ball and pocket about $300,000 or does he sell it and face the possibility of having to pay taxes JUST because of it's worth?? Personally, I'd sell the ball. That's just because I have student loans, debt, and a strong desire to make it rain in the club for a change. But I do understand why he'd want to keep it. But damn...who wants to pay taxes on a stupid baseball just for it's sentimental value?

Esquire's Best Dressed in 2007...

Can ya'll believe that New England Patriot QB Tom Brady topped the list as the #1 best dressed man in 2007 (right ahead of Jay-Z!)?! Well, he did! I don't really take much notice to Tom Brady's off the field attire so I can neither agree nor disagree. However, one person who I take a LOT of notice to came in at #14. IMO the only thing better than a sexy chocolate man is a sexy chocolate man who knows how to dress. That man, ladies and gentlemen, is Dwyane Wade!!!...and he's killin that canary yellow!

...Also gangsta French rappin' Tony Parker Longoria came in at #23. I couldn't seem to find a picture of him without either his game gear on or Eva standing right under him, but we all know what he looks like.

Did Ya'll See the Way They Stopped the Game??

Barry Bonds hitting his 756th career homerun had to be one of the best moments in sports history that I've ever witnessed. Just think, the last time the record was broken was like 50 years ago. It could be another 50 years before it's done again! I've seen a lot of great sports moments, but none like last night. Immediately after Barry hit the HR, the damn game just stopped! His family rushed the field, they gave him a mic...it was crazy!! I was confused for a second thinking, "Are they just really gonna end the game in the 5th inning like this??"

After Barry thanked the fans, shed a few tears, spit out a few sunflower seeds, and waved his hat in the air a few times, he was through (off to get pissy drunk and talk shit about all the haters...well that's how I would've celebrated at least). He gathered his belongings and peaced out (gotta love baseball!)...BUT not before Hank Aaron magically appeared on the jumbotron to officially "pass the torch" and give his words of congratulations (for some reason, I think he was strongly persuaded to do this). The commissioner, however, was nowhere in sight (**smh**).

And here's the oh so lucky guy who caught the ball! I bet he got drunker than Barry last night!

I Now Pronounce You~Mr & Mrs. Yao Ming...

Yao Ming and his long time girlfriend were married yesterday in front of about 100 relatives. The wedding cost over a million dollars, and no teammates, coaches or basketball officials were invited (what not even Traci McGrady!). Yao decided to fill the extra space with 100 hired security guards. I guess he needed those security guards to protect him from anyone hurling fistfuls of rice at them because I can't think of any other reason why Yao Ming would need that much security. Maybe he's an OG back in China...who knows.

HaHa Hank!!!

Over the weekend, Barry Bonds hit that controversial homerun we've all been waiting for. I hate how his great moment is being overshadowed by so much other bull. Hopefully he celebrated and enjoyed his moment because there are so many people who are disgusted by what took place on Saturday especially old Hank. I heard more about A.Rod hitting his 500th homerun than I have about Barry Bonds! Oh well.

Saturday, August 04, 2007

FYI...

Barry Bonds is still stuck at 754 career homeruns! After playing (and losing to) the Padres for 10 innings last night, Barry still stands one homerun away from tying Hank Aaron's record. I'm no fan of baseball, but I have to admit that I've been tuning in when the Giants play to possibly see the record tying homerun. I know they'll re-play it thousands of times on ESPN when it finally happens, but I kinda want to see it as it is in progress.

LUCKY B*STARD!!

Calvin Johnson finally signed with the Lions' and his rookie contract is worth $64 mil with $27.2 mil guaranteed! WOW! Just to think, this time last year he was preparing for another football season as a regular ole college student borrowing tissue to wipe his ass. Fast forward one year later, and he's wiping his ass with 100 dollar bills!

Are Kobe and 'Nessa Getting a Divorce?

I don't know. According to MediaTakeOut, thier marriage is in trouble.
They've been trying [to make things better] now for more than a year, but it's just not working out ... Kobe's in the process of moving out [of their home] and both are ready to officially end things.
IF this is true, I wonder what could have possibly caused this to happen. If they made it through Kolorado Kobe's use of sexual bad judgment then they should be able to make it through anything. I wonder if Kobe is gonna keep his "Vanessa" tattoo. I'm sure that Vanessa could write one helluva tell all book. I can just imagine all the things he's admitted to her in confidence like, "Damn I wish I was Shaq."
